Questions, answered honestly.
Does batana oil help hair grow?
Batana nourishes the scalp where every hair begins and strengthens each strand, so far less of it breaks off. That's how you keep the length you grow: most people see stronger, thicker and fuller-looking hair over 90 days of regular use.
If you are losing hair suddenly or in patches, please see a doctor first.
How does Buy 1 Get 1 Free work?
Choose 1 + 1 Free on any product and you get 2 for the price of one; choose 2 + 2 Free and you get 4, with free shipping. Everything ships together in one parcel. We gift the extra bottles because real results take 60 to 90 days of steady use.
How long until I see a difference?
Most people notice softer, shinier hair after the first treatment. Less breakage usually shows within 3 to 4 weeks, and fuller-looking hair after 8 to 12 weeks of using the oil 2 to 3 times a week. Results vary from person to person.
What does it smell like?
Like roasted coffee and dark cacao, slightly smoky. That's what raw, unrefined batana smells like; odourless batana has been deodorised. The scent fades once you've washed it out, and the shampoo and cream are much softer.
Will it work for my hair type?
Yes. Batana is used on every hair type, from fine and straight to tight coils. Thick, curly and coily hair can take more product on the lengths; fine hair does best with the oil on the scalp only and two washes afterwards.
I have fine or oily hair. Will it weigh it down?
Not if you use it as a pre-wash treatment. Put the oil on the scalp, leave it on, then wash twice with Batana Shampoo. Skip the cream on the roots and use just a little on the ends.
Can I use it on my beard or eyebrows?
Yes, a drop or two on the beard or brows works well. Keep it away from your eyes and don't use it on lashes.
Is it safe for coloured or relaxed hair?
Yes. There are no sulfates in the shampoo, and the oil and cream contain only plant oils and butters, so they are safe on coloured, bleached, relaxed and permed hair.
Can I use it while pregnant or breastfeeding?
The formulas are made of plant oils and butters, but every pregnancy is different. Check with your doctor or midwife first, and do a patch test behind the ear.
Why wash twice after an oil treatment?
The first wash breaks up the oil; the second actually cleans the scalp. Two light washes with a little shampoo leave hair cleaner and less weighed down than one heavy wash.
What if it doesn’t work for me?
Use it for up to 90 days. If you're not happy, email us and we'll refund your first order, even if the bottles are empty. No need to send anything back.
How long does each product last?
The 100 ml oil lasts about 8 to 10 weeks at 2 to 3 treatments a week (less on long, thick hair). The 150 ml cream lasts 2 to 3 months as a leave-in, and the 250 ml shampoo about 2 months.
How do I know it’s real batana?
Four checks. Colour: deep brown, close to black coffee, never golden. Scent: roasted coffee and cacao. Texture: thick, and it sets when cool. Label: the ingredient list should start with Elaeis Oleifera. If it says Elaeis Guineensis, that is ordinary African palm oil.
Why has my oil gone thick?
Because it's pure. Batana sets when it's cool, like coconut oil. Stand the bottle in a bowl of warm water for a minute and it flows again. Nothing has gone wrong with it.
